and if new woes would come you offer them a drink,
and if death comes you can smoothly pour her your wine, too.

in un angolo, ora che ritorneranno le prime piogge,
bevilo coi marinai, coi pescatori curvi che stanno davanti a te,
con gli uomini che hanno sofferto i tormenti del mare e della povertà.
Bevilo: così che l’anima tua possa diventare tanto incurante
da sorridere al destino avverso se mai giunga,
e se verranno nuovi dolori tu offra loro da bere
ed anche se viene la morte tranquillamente tu possa versarle il tuo vino.
